The Lost Trust And The Path To A Descent Society

People don't trust the administration, political parties, or the judicial system. They have made it a necessity to create informal friend circles and secretive partners-in-crime to mutually protect and support each other in times of need. When the time comes, these people behave as either a flock of sheep or a pack of wolves, fighting with the other pack or flock, with no regard for law or ethics. The stronger pack or flock wins. Trust in constitutional babus, milords, and mantrijis is completely absent, and the public is not to be blamed. It's all because of how it all began in the past. The previous and present generations have inherited it with cascading effects. One flaw exploited by one individual will lead to more individuals exploiting the same flaw and other possible flaws that might exist. When the reaction backfires, they embrace temporary short-term immediate solutions, even if it could prove fatal in the long run. Such is the rowdy and corrupt behavior of the previous and present generations of Indian society.

It is rightly said that earning back lost trust is almost impossible. The same is true for the trust of the people. Nobody expects a node of the government to function sincerely, so they are always looking for 'backdoor' access to the services provided. People who trust the system are disappointed, and many of them gradually fall away from the line to start the search for backdoor access. This is exactly what is happening in our society now. One can't even trust the so-called higher class, socially and educationally situated people; the question of blaming the common people doesn't even arise. People are always suspecting 'bonafide' wrong interventions in any public service, especially those belonging to the government. The government is not the disease but the sick functionaries who are in disguise within, eating the society from inside. Even then, it's a childish assumption that the government will guide the people.

Instead, the government must simultaneously find ways to continuously remedy itself of these diseases or keep a check on their spread. Until that happens, society is not going to become decent anytime soon. For those who don't know, it is the well-connected and well-off people who sponsor such diseases. So next time, don't scold the uneducated and simple folks who don't follow rules; rather, set an example yourself so they may gradually come to follow it someday.
